I love it when stories like these crop up around Halloween.
An 18 foot long oar fish’s body was found floating in the water by a marine science teacher. Once she (and several other people) got the beast pulled to shore, they soon realized that it was the largest specimen ever found.
This fish species likes to stay in very deep waters, and marine biologists admitted that they had very little information about them other than they can grow to be fifty feet in length, they are the largest traditional fish known on Earth today, and it is believed that the oar fish maybe one fish at the core of sea serpent legends of old.
